BEAVERTON, Ore., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Epitope, Inc. (Nasdaq: EPTO) today announced that it will hold its 1997 annual meeting of shareholders in Portland, Oregon, on April 29, 1997. Shareholders of record as of March 7, 1997 will be eligible to vote at the meeting. At the meeting, shareholders will be asked to elect three Class I directors to serve until the year 2000 and to approve an important proposal to create a new class of common stock. The proposal calls for the Company to create a new class of its common stock called Agritope Stock, which is meant to reflect the value and track the performance of Agritope, the Company's agribusiness and agricultural biotechnology operations, and to rename its existing common stock "Medical Products Stock," which is meant to reflect the value and track the performance of Epitope Medical Products, the Company's medical products business. A definitive proxy statement/prospectus will be delivered shortly to shareholders eligible to vote at the annual meeting.
